Share a Book
Does anyone have a book to share? I enjoy hearing what people are reading. If you have any recommendations, please feel free to share them. I am presently reading a book entitled" Rivers of Living Water" by Ruth Paxson. She was an American missionary to China in the 1930's. She wrote several books.
"To be a Christian is to have Christ the Life of our minds, hearts, and wills so that it is He who thinks through our minds, loves through hearts and wills through our wills. It is to have Christ filling our life in ever-increasing measure until we have no life apart from Him." Ruth Paxson
It is very challenging!

Are you overwhelmed?
I have been saved for 20 years now...and as I look back , I remember a time when I said "Yes!" to everything. I am not referring to spiritually dangerous things. Although I am sure that at times I found myself in sticky situations that were not healthy for a new babe in Christ . God has a way of protecting us even though we are dumb sheep. But, I am thinking specifically about all of the "Good" things that we can say "yes" to without really asking God Himself to lead and direct us. I said "Yes" to so many things that I found myself overwhelmed, tired, irritated, etc. I struggled to have Peace and Joy. It took me many years to learn this lesson. One of my favorite quotes that has helped me is: "Never Respond to Need, only Respond to the Will of God"
It is very freeing! I hope to encourage you to listen for God's voice and allow Him to lead you.
"For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me." Psalms 31:3

Something to ponder
The moment we seek of ourselves to please God, we are placing ourselves under the law, a realm where grace does not operate. Grace implies that God does something for us. Law implies that we do something for God. Deliverance from the law does not mean that we are free from doing the will of God, but that another, the LORD Himself, does it in us and through us.

Purpose of My Blog
Hi everyone! My daughter, Sarah, has recently introduced me to the Blog world. I am excited about meeting you all. The purpose of my blog is to encourage others in their relationship with the LORD and to keep in touch with friends. I believe whether young or old , we all need encouragement!
When I was a young believer I attended a Women's Retreat and heard the most wonderful message on the book of Ruth. This was the first time that the verse in Ruth 2:16..."And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not," spoke to my heart in a special way. I have been saved now for 20 years and have seen how God continually sends "Handfuls of Purpose" to me for each season of life I am going through. I have learned that there is a lesson in all things if we are looking for it. The LORD is intimately acquainted with each one of us and desires for us to walk with Him more closely day by day. It is through these lessons that God draws us nearer.
